KAILASA Condemns Systematic Media Disinformation Campaign Against Indigenous Nations Worldwide
March 28, 2025

KAILASA, a sovereign indigenous nation representing persecuted indigenous communities worldwide, strongly condemns the recent coordinated disinformation campaign launched by various international media outlets. These publications have systematically published false, defamatory, and dehumanizing narratives about indigenous nations, their right to self-determination, and their diplomatic relations. This assault on indigenous sovereignty also targets KAILASA and THE SPH BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM (hereinafter referred to as “THE SPH”).

KAILASA finds itself at the forefront of these attacks precisely because it has taken a bold stance in defense of indigenous rights globally. By advocating for indigenous sovereignty in international forums, KAILASA has become a primary target for those seeking to undermine indigenous self-determination worldwide.

This coordinated attack represents a dangerous continuation of racist lawfare and disinformation that has historically been weaponized against indigenous communities worldwide. While we acknowledge the vital role media plays in disseminating information, it is alarming to witness this systematic disinformation campaign designed to inflict further persecution on already marginalized and persecuted minority indigenous communities globally.

The Curious Timing and Focus of Media Coverage

We are compelled to question why certain media elements have suddenly fixated on agreements between a U.S.based organization and indigenous communities in Bolivia—a story with limited direct relevance to their primary audiences. The extraordinary allocation of resources to this coverage is disproportionate to its news value, raising serious questions about motivations and agendas.

This media frenzy coincides with a period when indigenous communities worldwide have been gaining increased international recognition and momentum in asserting their rights to self-determination. The timing suggests a coordinated effort to undermine indigenous sovereignty without directly addressing the legitimacy or achievements of these nations. By conflating diplomatic initiatives between a U.S.based organization and indigenous communities with unrelated controversies, these media outlets appear to be executing a calculated strategy to diminish the growing influence of indigenous voices on the global stage.

The question remains: What is so threatening about indigenous nations’ missions of preserving their traditions and exercising their sovereignty that would prompt such an orchestrated media response? As an indigenous nation, KAILASA stands in solidarity with all indigenous peoples facing similar media attacks on their sovereignty.

KAILASA at the Forefront: Standing Up for Indigenous Rights Worldwide

As an indigenous nation that has experienced centuries of persecution, KAILASA stands in unwavering solidarity with all indigenous peoples fighting for their rights to self-determination, cultural preservation, and diplomatic recognition.

The history of indigenous peoples worldwide stands as one of the most tragic and overlooked chapters in human history. Indigenous communities across continents have faced genocide, cultural erasure, territorial dispossession, and systematic oppression.

In the case of indigenous Hindus, there were once 56 indigenous Hindu nations spanning approximately 6 million km² across Asia, with 10,000 indigenous Hindu traditions across 1,700 Hindu provinces and 200 Hindu Kingdoms.

This dark chapter of several centuries includes:

  • Massacre of 500+ million Hindus
  • Slavery of 4+ million Hindus
  • Induced famines resulting in the death of 160+ million Hindus
  • Destruction of thousands of Hindu temples, 1+ million Hindu educational institutions, and 80 million Hindu scriptures

Today, only a small fraction of these indigenous Hindu traditions endure, with all Hindu sovereign lands having been unlawfully annexed, leading to the forced mass exodus of indigenous Hindus.

KAILASA represents not only the revival and preservation of indigenous Hindu traditions but stands as a unified voice to all indigenous nations seeking to protect their heritage, assert their sovereignty, and secure their rightful place in the international community. By delegitimizing indigenous diplomatic relations, these media outlets become complicit in the ongoing erasure of indigenous peoples worldwide.

On the Legitimacy and Recognition of Indigenous Nations

Certain media outlets have characterized KAILASA as “fictitious,” “imaginary,” or “fake” not recognized internationally.

This characterization fundamentally misrepresents the nature of statehood under international law and violates the right to self-determination of indigenous peoples worldwide. The United Nations itself explicitly states that it “is neither a State nor a Government, and therefore does not possess any authority to recognize either a State or a Government.” Recognition is a political act, not a legal prerequisite for statehood.

Under the Montevideo Convention of 1933, which establishes the criteria for statehood in international law, a sovereign entity requires:

  • A permanent population
  • A defined territory
  • A government
  • The capacity to enter into diplomatic relations

KAILASA fulfills these criteria.

The right to self-determination is enshrined in numerous international legal instruments, including:

  • The United Nations Charter (Article 1)
  • The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Article 1)
  • The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Articles 3, 4, and 5)

By labeling indigenous nations as “fictitious,” these media outlets are not merely expressing an opinion; they are actively denying the fundamental human right to self-determination of indigenous peoples and engaging in discriminatory practices prohibited under international law.

On the Legal Status of Agreements Between Indigenous Communities

Recent media reports have alleged that agreements between a U.S.based organization and indigenous communities constitute “illegal purchase and leasing of land” and threaten sovereignty of nation states.

These allegations betray a profound misunderstanding—or willful misrepresentation—of these agreements and the legal framework governing indigenous autonomy internationally.

The agreements entered into by indigenous nations explicitly include provisions ensuring compliance with national laws. These are conservation partnerships aimed at environmental protection and cultural exchange. The agreements are endorsed by indigenous leaders who retain full sovereignty under their national constitutional frameworks. Nothing in these agreements threatens territorial integrity of any nation state.

It is deeply ironic that media outlets posture as defenders of indigenous rights while simultaneously seeking to undermine the autonomy guaranteed to these communities by their own constitutional frameworks and international law. Indigenous communities enter into these agreements voluntarily, exercising their constitutional right to self-determination.

The media’s stance ultimately amounts to an argument that indigenous peoples should be denied the rights guaranteed to them by law and international conventions—an inherently colonialist position masquerading as concern.

On the False and Disproven Allegations Against THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM

Multiple outlets have repeated false allegations of criminal activity against THE SPH. All such claims have been thoroughly disproven in courts of law.

The facts are as follows:

  1. The same false allegations that were filed in India were duplicated in the United States.
  2. Upon thorough examination by multiple U.S. courts, THE SPH was fully exonerated from all charges.
  3. The U.S. courts not only cleared THE SPH but also imposed substantial fines on the accusers for making false allegations and defamation. Specifically, in the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Case No. 2:13-CV-00526, the court fined the false accuser nearly half a million dollars in penalties.
  4. The Michigan Court issued contempt of court orders and bench warrants for the arrest of the false accuser for failure to comply with court orders, including mandatory appearances at depositions.
  5. The California Court similarly imposed judgments against the false accuser for continued contempt of court and failure to comply with deposition requirements.
  6. Four Federal and State U.S. courts absolved THE SPH of all charges, with the false accusers subjected to legal sanctions exceeding $6 million for defamation, malicious prosecution, and related offenses.
  7. It is worth noting that despite nearly fifteen years of malicious prosecution and vexatious litigation, THE SPH has NEVER been convicted of ANY crime in ANY jurisdiction.
  8. In February 2024, the Ramanagara Indian court acknowledged the heinous crimes committed by co-conspirators against the SPH and KAILASA.

As per the international legal doctrines of res judicata and double jeopardy, THE SPH should not face re-litigation of the same issues that have been definitively adjudicated in competent courts. The continued circulation of these disproven allegations by the media constitutes harassment and persecution.

Furthermore, 11 medical experts from Ohio, California, Michigan, Canada, and India have unequivocally concluded, after reviewing THE SPH’s medical reports, that his inherent medical condition renders him physically incapable of committing the alleged acts. This medical evidence has been presented to and accepted by courts.

International human rights lawyers, including Mr. Geoffrey Robertson, KC (former jurist on the United Nations Justice Council), Ms. Malliha Wilson (former Assistant Deputy Attorney General of Ontario), and other distinguished legal experts, have all provided legal opinions concluding that the prosecution of THE SPH has degenerated into persecution.

On Environmental Conservation and Neo-Colonialism Allegations

It is particularly ironic that KAILASA has been accused of exploiting indigenous territories through carbon markets, given our demonstrated commitment to environmental protection and the preservation of indigenous knowledge systems.

THE SPH is the reviver of numerous ancient Hindu sciences related to sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and ecological restoration. These indigenous Hindu technologies have been freely shared with communities worldwide for decades, long before the current global focus on climate finance.

Our agreements with indigenous communities explicitly focus on:

  • Preserving biodiversity
  • Supporting indigenous land management practices
  • Documenting and reviving traditional ecological knowledge
  • Protecting ancestral territories from extractive industries

For media outlets to characterize cooperation between persecuted indigenous communities as “neo-colonization” represents a profound distortion of reality and history.

Violation of Journalistic Ethics

We note with concern that the reporting on KAILASA fails to meet basic ethical standards of journalism:

  • Truth and Accuracy: The articles repeat disproven allegations without acknowledging their judicial refutation.
  • Independence: The coordinated nature of the coverage across multiple outlets suggests external influence.
  • Fairness and Impartiality: No outlet contacted KAILASA for comment before publication.
  • Humanity: The articles use dehumanizing language to describe a persecuted religious minority.
  • Accountability: Despite factual errors, no corrections have been issued.

Call for Media Integrity

We call upon all media organizations to uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity when reporting on indigenous communities, including KAILASA. We demand that any publication that has published false information about KAILASA issue corrections and provide accurate facts.

Five major media houses – including prominent U.S. and Indian publications – have previously removed Hinduphobic and defamatory articles that carried similar disinformation against the THE SPH and KAILASA after being presented with the facts. We expect others to follow suit and rectify the harm.

KAILASA remains open to further discussions and is willing to provide additional information to interested media. We stand firm in our commitment to truth, justice, and the rights of indigenous communities worldwide.
