January 15, 2024 – KAILASA is delighted to announce the worldwide celebrations of Makara Sankranti (Pongal). KAILASA’s global temples, embassies, and centers united to honor this time-honored, auspicious festival.
Makara Sankaranti, also known as Pongal, is the day when the Sun, Bhagavan Shiva Surya, enters the Makara Rashi. This event signifies the start of the Uttarayana Punyakala, the auspicious period when the Sun begins its northward journey in the sky. Historically, Uttarayana has been regarded as a favorable time for positive change and renewal.
This four-day festival, also a celebration of winter harvest and Thanksgiving, is a time to express gratitude to the Sun, Bhagavan Shiva Surya, for the abundance of agriculture and the sustenance provided by our food.
KAILASAs worldwide celebrated this festival, symbolizing abundance and nourishment through traditional temple rituals and distributing free medicinal food to thousands.
This auspicious day featured a live presidential address by THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM (SPH), BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM. THE SPH blessed the worldwide devotees, esteemed guests, Kings, Queens, officials, religious leaders, social activists, and distinguished personalities from various backgrounds and nations present for the occasion. THE SPH guided everyone to let go of the old to embrace a new beginning for a prosperous year. The presidential address was broadcast live across multiple social media platforms and web televisions, reaching a global audience.
On this auspicious day, devotees from around the world expressed their gratitude at the divine lotus feet of THE SPH through the Pratyaksha Pada Puja and Tulabharam, traditional rituals symbolizing the surrender of one’s most valued possessions to the Guru in gratitude for the abundant blessings the Guru has bestowed them with.
