Nourishing Body and Soul Through Aushada Annadhan
Over the past 48 hours, more than 200,000 hearty meals have been served at KAILASA Tiruvannamalai. The Aushada Annadhan initiative represents a unique approach to community service, where ingredients are carefully chosen for their natural medicinal qualities, transforming delicious food into natural medicine.
This comprehensive program focuses on nurturing naturally and organically grown produce and grains through sustainable practices including organic farming, chemical-free fertilizers, rainwater harvesting, high-density farming, and vertical gardening. By addressing hunger while promoting environmentally conscious practices, KAILASA demonstrates its dedication to fostering a sustainable world.
Global Impact Through Local Action
The free food service extends far beyond Tiruvannamalai’s borders. KAILASA offers these meals to communities in 150 countries where it has established de jure spiritual embassies as well as multiple agencies and NGOs. Providing free access to food is part of KAILASA’s welfare systems, which are based on Hindu principles, including viewing all beings as Paramashiva. These ecosystems are aimed at uplifting human consciousness, alleviating suffering, and promoting zero poverty and zero violence.
Dedicated Service with Devotion
Close to 250 dedicated volunteers, unwavering in their commitment to uphold the highest standards of food safety and cleanliness, served guests with devotion and care. They offered not just physical nourishment but also nurtured spiritual well-being.
The meals are prepared following detailed procedures laid out by Paramashiva in the sacred scripture, the Bhaga Shastra, and revived by THE SPH. The Bhaga Shastra contains over 60,000 recipes, each designed to naturally nurture soul enrichment along with better health and wellness.
Each meal includes a blend of over 16 carefully selected natural spices, serving as vital ingredients that not only enhance flavors but also act as natural everyday catalysts for improved health.
Youth Empowerment Through Kalpataru Program
As part of the 18th anniversary celebrations, KAILASA also conducted the Kalpataru Program – a free meditation camp for youth empowerment. This transformative program teaches young people the science of fulfilling their purpose, providing practical tools and techniques to manifest their highest potential.
A Sacred Legacy Continues
Lakhs of devotees gather in the sacred town of Tiruvannamalai during the auspicious occasion of Pournami. They choose KAILASA Tiruvannamalai as their spiritual destination and savor the delicious food infused with the essence of natural medicine. This service to pilgrims has been provided for over three decades since its inception by the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism, Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam.
Historical and Spiritual Significance
The Sri Nithyananda Janma Bhumi Kshetram stands as a unique confluence of ancient history and spiritual revival. This sacred ground encompasses:
- The Adi Annamalaiyar Temple – One of the oldest shrines of Lord Shiva in Tiruvannamalai, housing a swayambhu (self-manifested) Shiva lingam
- The Pandeshwara Kshetra – The puranic site where Arjuna performed intense tapas and received the Pashupatastra from Lord Shiva
- Gautama Ashrama – Where Devi Parvati performed penance and realized her oneness with Shiva as Ardhanareeshwara
- Kiratha Murthy Temple – A hillside shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva’s hunter form
Custodians of Sacred Legacy
For generations, the Chamundiyar family upheld the custodianship of these sacred sites. In the late 20th century, Sri Bhanu Nainar (paternal uncle of the SPH) and his son Sri Soundaram formally donated approximately 2.5 acres of their family property at the base of sacred Arunachala Hill, enabling the revival of this ancient enlightenment ecosystem.
Sri Raju Mudaliar, the SPH’s maternal grandfather, contributed significantly to this sacred renaissance, imbuing the young Avatar with deep religious traditions and serving as his first guru.
A Living Tirtha of Enlightenment
Today, under THE SPH’s guidance, the kshetram has been transformed into a dynamic spiritual hub complete with temples, meditation halls, a goshala, and the daily annadana service. The Adi Annamalaiyar Temple is once again vibrant with rituals, and the entire complex radiates the energy of Shiva’s boon-giving grace.
The 18th anniversary celebration marks another milestone in the continuing evolution of this sacred space, where ancient history and future hope converge. The revival of this enlightenment ecosystem is part of THE SPH’s dedicated hard work and vision. As THE SPH himself proclaims, “Paramashiva is real and available here, now.”
